Your New Role

In this pivotal leadership position as Head of Legal and Compliance, you will spearhead the organization's efforts to navigate complex regulatory landscapes, deliver sound legal counsel, and uphold the highest standards of governance. Your primary focus will be on building robust frameworks that safeguard the business while supporting strategic initiatives.

  • Gaining deep insights into pertinent laws and rules affecting core operations, and crafting comprehensive guidelines, protocols, and systems to guarantee full adherence to all relevant statutes and oversight demands.
  • Keeping abreast of evolving laws, standards, and directives that could influence the firm's activities, spearheading advocacy efforts during policy consultations, and devising implementation strategies to adapt the business accordingly.
  • Managing the routine application of local compliance measures in Hong Kong, covering areas like combating financial crimes, preventing bribery, fair competition practices, managing conflicts, sanctions compliance, and protecting personal information.
  • Overseeing the upkeep of detailed logs for significant compliance duties and official filings, ensuring all documentation is precise and aligned with operational needs.

On the legal side, you will:

  • Offer expert opinions on operational aspects such as product innovation, sales strategies, risk assessment, claims processing, and policy management.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and finalize diverse agreements including insurance policies, partnerships with reinsurers, vendor deals, and distribution contracts, confirming they meet legal norms, market standards, and internal directives.

Your Background

  • 8+ years of PQE experience
  • Proficiency in English and Cantonese is essential
  • Solid track record in legal advisory, risk management, and oversight within the insurance field, ideally life products
  • Relevant compliance expereince in insurance industry

In this key role, you will directly manage the Claims and Policy Administration teams, drive effective, compliant, and customer-focused operations while apply expertise in life insurance processes to support operational efficiency.

Your New Role

  • Lead and develop the Claims and Policy Administration teams, setting performance standards, coaching staff, and building operational capability across adjudication, settlement, policy issuance, endorsements, renewals, and servicing.
  • Oversee end-to-end processes with hands-on expertise, implementing streamlined workflows, automation, and controls to improve speed, accuracy, fairness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor key metrics and trends, deliver insightful reporting, and drive continuous improvements to enhance customer experience and strengthen risk management (including anti-selection and fraud controls).
  • Define operational philosophy, update guidelines and ensure robust governance and audit readiness across claims and policy functions.
  • Collaborate with IT on system enhancements, provide claims/policy input for new product launches, and deliver training to distribution partners on procedures, regulations, and case knowledge.

Your Background

  • University degree (Bachelor’s or higher) in a relevant field
  • 10+ years in life insurance operations administration, with specialised experience in claims management and policy administration
  • Proven leadership managing claims and/or policy teams within the Hong Kong market
  • In-depth knowledge of life insurance operational workflows, regulatory compliance, and risk controls
  • Fluency in English and Chinese (Cantonese & Mandarin); professional qualifications (e.g. FLMI) highly preferred

Your Background
